What are MSI and MMR?

• MSI (Microsatellite Instability) is a condition in which there is instability in short DNA sequences
• MMR (Mismatch Repair) is the cellular system that repairs errors during DNA replication

When the MMR system does not function properly (dMMR), high MSI (MSI-High) can occur, which is associated with certain types of cancer.

Why is this test important?

• Helps identify patients who may benefit from immunotherapy
• May suggest the presence of Lynch syndrome, a genetic condition
• Helps determine prognosis

How is the test performed?
